Guide / qualification

The grant-fit checklist.

Use these questions before a promising opportunity becomes a commitment on someone’s calendar.

Confirm basic eligibility

Start with the funder’s current source, not an old summary.

  1. Does your legal status, location, and service population match the written criteria?
  2. Are the proposed activities and costs allowed?
  3. What is still unknown, and who will verify it with the funder?

Measure the work

A plausible grant can still cost more attention than it returns.

  1. What is the deadline, required match, and reporting burden?
  2. Which program and finance staff would need to contribute?
  3. Can your organization carry the award obligations if selected?

Record the decision

A short no-go reason saves future teams from repeating the same research.

  1. Capture source date and eligibility notes.
  2. Name the reviewer and owner of any open question.
  3. Decide pursue, pause for review, or no-go before drafting.
